The 'zinc' type energy storage welcomes good news, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is seeking opinions on the action plan.

On November 6, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "Action Plan for the High-Quality Development of the New Energy Storage Manufacturing Industry" (draft for public comment) (hereinafter referred to as the "Draft Action Plan"), soliciting public opinions. Notably, the Draft Action Plan explicitly states that new electrochemical energy storage technologies, such as aqueous zinc-ion batteries, will be included in the forward-looking development fields, promoting the research and industrialization breakthroughs of energy storage technologies such as thermal storage and cold storage.
On November 6, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "Action Plan for the High-Quality Development of the New Energy Storage Manufacturing Industry" (draft for public comment) (hereinafter referred to as the "Draft Action Plan"), soliciting public opinions. Notably, the Draft Action Plan explicitly states,to include new electrochemical energy storage technologies such as aqueous zinc-ion batteries in the forward-looking development fields.It aims to promote the research and industrialization breakthroughs of energy storage technologies such as thermal storage and cold storage.


The Draft Action Plan proposes to actively encourage the development of diversified new energy storage technologies, targeting the needs of medium-short and long-term energy storage across various time scales and application scenarios, accelerating the diversified development of new energy storage technologies, and enhancing the reliability, economic feasibility, and energy conversion efficiency of new energy storage products and technologies. It also aims to accelerate the promotion of shared energy storage and enhance the auxiliary service capabilities of energy storage for the power system. Furthermore, it seeks to promote alternative energy storage in areas with tight land resources or remote regions, strengthen the construction of facilities such as substations and emergency power sources, and enhance the grid security capabilities. It guides regions to scientifically and orderly layout new energy storage manufacturing projects, particularly for users with high reliability and energy quality requirements and large electricity consumption, such as data centers, communication base stations, and highway service areas, to promote the configuration of new energy storage. It supports qualified industrial enterprises and parks in building industrial green microgrids and actively promotes the application of new energy storage technology products in the industrial sector.
In addition, it proposes to study and establish a "passport" system for energy storage batteries, accelerate the construction of a traceability management system for new energy storage products and a carbon footprint certification system, and promote mutual recognition with international rules; moderately advance the layout of ultra-long-term energy storage technologies, encourage the exploration and development of various types of hybrid energy storage technologies based on application needs, and support basic research on new system batteries and forward-looking technologies such as thermal storage and cold storage.
