On December 2, 2025, Senke Chuangneng, in collaboration with Shuangdeng Group, Tianjin University, and China Tower, will join forces—four industry leaders—to jointly launch the “Research on Communication-Use Batteries and Energy Big Data—Research on Aqueous Zinc-Based Batteries” project. This collaboration focuses on the safety and environmental adaptability of backup power sources for communication base stations. It involves in-depth research centered on optimizing the material systems for aqueous zinc-based batteries used in telecommunications, innovating battery structures, developing advanced system integration solutions, and implementing big data management for energy resources. This effort will provide a brand-new approach to addressing the issue of battery performance degradation in low-temperature environments and inject a core driving force into building a green and efficient new energy ecosystem.

Compared to conventional batteries, zinc-based batteries offer superior low-temperature performance and weather resistance, making them well-suited to meet the backup power requirements of base stations. Moreover, zinc-based batteries employ aqueous electrolytes and highly stable zinc electrode materials, fundamentally eliminating the risk of fire and explosion and ensuring stable operation even under extreme conditions. In the future, this project plans to carry out demonstration applications in typical low-temperature regions such as Heilongjiang Province and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, to verify the actual performance of zinc-based batteries in extremely cold environments.
Taking this collaborative project as our starting point, we will deepen industry-academia-research collaborative innovation and jointly promote the large-scale application of aqueous zinc-based battery technology in communication base stations. Leveraging China Tower’s leading edge in international standards, we will comprehensively empower the green upgrade of 5G networks and provide the global telecommunications industry with safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly energy storage solutions for its green transformation.
