According to reports from The Paper and Sina Finance,on the afternoon of January 16, 2025, a fire broke out at the world's largest battery storage power station currently operating in California, USA.The fire spread rapidly, with thick black smoke rising into the sky, and 1,500 people were urgently evacuated. The cause of the incident is still unknown. All personnel on site have been safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported so far.

The facility that caught fire is a battery storage project of Vistra Energy at the Moss Landing storage power station, which is also one of the largest storage power plants in the world, equipped with tens of thousands of storage batteries.

According to public information, the Moss Landing storage power station experienced two fires on September 4, 2021, and February 14, 2022. On September 4, 2021, due to a programming error in the fire smoke system, the water cooling system of the batteries was mistakenly activated, causing a small number of joints on some hoses and pipes to fail, leading to water spraying onto the battery racks, resulting in short circuits and arcs, which damaged the batteries and produced more smoke, triggering a chain thermal reaction. On February 13, 2022, a similar incident occurred at the Moss Landing storage power station, where about 10 battery racks were melted, but no personnel were injured on site.

It is worth noting that PG&E operates another storage power station called Elkhorn to the north of the aforementioned power station, which also experienced a fire in September 2022.

The zinc-nickel batteries produced by Senke Chuangneng have ultra-high safety, capable of withstanding safety tests such as short circuits, overcharging, impacts, punctures, burning, and hot plates, without exploding, cracking, or catching fire. In addition, the zinc-nickel batteries produced by Senke Chuangneng also have significant advantages in wide temperature applicability and calendar life. According to the test report from Cape Laboratory (conducted based on GB/T29309-2012 for high-acceleration life testing), the batteries can still charge and discharge normally at low temperatures of -65°C, and at high temperatures of 160°C, the batteries remain effective for charging and discharging, with a lifespan equivalent to 183,000 hours, significantly reducing replacement frequency and maintenance costs. The zinc-nickel batteries produced by Senke Chuangneng also have excellent power performance, enabling fast charging, high current discharging, and deep discharging; they feature high effective energy usage, long service life, and are environmentally friendly and recyclable. Senke Chuangneng has solved the problems of zinc anode dendrites and self-discharge with its own technology, achieving a cycle life for zinc-nickel batteries that exceeds the national industry standard by more than twice, taking the lead in overcoming challenges in the zinc-nickel battery industry.

Senke Chuangneng (ZINCPOWER) was established in 2015 and is a national high-tech enterprise dedicated to promoting the continuous development of the new energy battery industry, specializing in the research and development, production, and sales of core materials and zinc-nickel batteries. The company has always adhered to the development philosophy of "Zinc energy, zinc power, zinc technology, creating the future," and follows the cooperation philosophy of "Integrity and pragmatism, win-win cooperation," providing customers with green energy solutions based on zinc batteries, and jointly building a globally leading green zinc energy service ecosystem.
